The Back-to-Back Pump Behind 20-25 Tonne Machines
Most Indian excavators run Japanese-brand main pumps — but a meaningful share of 20-25 tonne class machines, and many aftermarket rebuilds, use the Eaton JPVB back-to-back axial piston pump. PumpGrid refurbishes JPVB units to restore full boom, arm and bucket force, with a written flow test before dispatch.
The Eaton JPVB is an open-circuit, back-to-back axial piston pump — two pumping sections sharing a single centre manifold, working as one unit. It's a proven main pump choice for 20-25 tonne excavators and crawler cranes, valued for low noise and precise flow control under load-sensing hydraulics. Eaton is also a major supplier of swing and travel drive motors fitted across many excavator brands, which is where most Indian contractors actually encounter the Eaton name first.
The JPVB is Eaton's back-to-back open-circuit piston pump, matched to 20-25 tonne excavators. It provides variable horsepower control, negative flow control, and power summation — comparable functionality to the K3V and HPV pumps used by Komatsu and Kawasaki, in a different mechanical layout.
Eaton's LSHT (Low Speed High Torque) motors and JMV track drive motors are widely fitted as swing and travel drive units across mini, midi and full-size excavators from multiple OEMs — not limited to machines using an Eaton main pump. If your swing is sluggish rather than your boom/arm/bucket, the failing part is more likely an Eaton motor than the main pump.
Full disassembly of both pumping sections. Piston, slipper and swashplate wear measured. Centre manifold and valve plate flatness checked. All seals, O-rings and servo components replaced. Reassembled and bench tested with pressure and flow readings recorded on the test report.
New JPVB pumps for excavators are typically imported to order in India, with lead times running into weeks. PumpGrid dispatches tested refurbished units in 2-3 working days.
Because JPVB pumps aren't stocked as widely in India as Komatsu or Kawasaki equivalents, new-unit pricing carries an import premium. A refurbished unit from PumpGrid typically saves 40-60% against that landed cost.
Our written flow and pressure test report gives contractors on government and private infrastructure projects the paperwork their site engineers and auditors require.
If the pump fails due to a refurbishment defect within warranty, we replace it — not repair it — to keep your downtime window minimal.
